What if topographic maps didn’t exist? I mean, what would someone like me do? I love them! There’s just something about the contour lines that acts to serve as a quantitative representation of the relief of any given area of the world that just speaks to me! It is very much like poetry! I can look at a topographic map of, oh, Paris, and all of a sudden all of the stories and historical battles that have taken place near and in Paris come to life like never before! I can gain a deeper understanding than if I had just looked at a traditional map! It’s beautiful!
