There are some things around the home that even DIY enthusiasts take for granted. When it comes to storage, those same DIY “experts”, carry out a lot of improvements. In fact, shelving is one of the jobs most home owners will have a go at.

That’s all very well, and shelves are usually simple to put up. They are also easy to put up wrongly, and one of the common errors is to use inadequate shelving brackets. Even if the bracket comes with the shelf at the time of purchase, you still need to check that it is strong enough for what you intend to place on it.

Don’t take shelving brackets for granted. Be absolutely sure that it’s weight bearing capacity is high enough for your purposes. This is especially important for heavy items, such as those you might store in the garage.
