I have owned a folding camping trailer for several years and the one feature that I find more important than any other is one you may not expect to hear.  It’s the outdoor cookstove.  I have used Coleman folding camping trailer.  It has two cookstoves – an indoor and an outdoor one.  The outdoor one is taken off the camping and stored inside when the camper is down, in storage, or in transit, but as soon as I pull into the campground and start setting up the outdoor cooking stove is one of the first things that is taken out of its protective bag and hooked up.  I like it so much that I never use the indoor cooking area – for one major reason – cleanup.

The interior space in a folding trailer is cozy, which means that the canvas, curtains, and plastic windows are near enough the stove for food and grease to easily spatter on them – resulting in a lot of cleanup.  Plus, cooking odors easily get into the soft surfaces of the camper and can be hard to get rid of.

I don’t have to worry about any of that with my outdoor cooking stove.  It operates the same as the interior one – off the propane tank of the camper and it has three burners.  It also has sides that fold up to block wind that could blow out the flame.

Cleanup is pretty easy since any grease or food spatters only end up on the hard surfaces or the ground.  And, food odors are already outside so I don’t have to worry about trying to air out the inside of the camper.

So, when looking for your next folding camping trailer or your first folding camping trailer, I highly recommend looking for one with an outdoor cook stove.
