So I was talking to my buddy who is a certified electrician about DIY solar panels. He was telling me that basically they are definitely NOT a good idea for anyone to do! The reason is that you need to first of all make sure the electrical work is done safely and correctly. The second reason is that you need the optimal placement and angle of the solar panles which a trained solar panel installer knows how to do. This makes a huge difference because with DIY solar panels you may only have them set up capturing 50 to 75% of the solar energy they have the potential for!
