I got to the point where I could not bear to stand for long periods of time, let alone attempt to do all the walking my job entailed. I was a consultant and gave many presentations as part of my job.  And professional means professional suits, high heels and pulling all my materials from one conference room to another at the other end of the complex.  This was n way for a forty-something to feel!  When my doctor told me I should try arch supports, I tried to reject the fact that my feet were old ladies’ feet.  Then my doctor told me how it was really the fact that I was exerting too much pressure on my metatarsals.  Now that I could adjust to!
