Wow. Was just reading about how many people are waiting for Social Security to hear their disability benefits claim. It’s over 750.000. The SSA is at their lowest staffing level in 34 years, and people usually wait over five hundred days for their claims to be heard. It’s unbelievable that this has been allowed to happen. I guess people poor enough to need disability benefits if they can’t work don’t register on our politician’s radar. And on top of the five hundred day wait, over half the claims are initially rejected. So it takes another year or so and usually the paying of a lawyer, which I’m sure is no financial burden at all (right!), to help these people navigate the system. Geez.
