There are many different therapies available to manage anger, and each one is uniquely suited to different types of anger and various types of people.

Before beginning to understand what therapies for anger management are best for you, it is first important to assess either your anger level, or the person who you believe needs anger management treatment.  This assessment is important because some forms of anger management such as self-help or group therapy will not work with people who need intensive anger management problems.  For these people, the only real recourse is professional one-on-one therapy.

For individuals where group therapy is appropriate, they will find many different techniques are taught. While in principle these techniques are not different from the methods taught in individual therapy, they are different in the fact that they are taught in a group setting and often times practiced among group members rather than with a therapist.
