My Grandmother lived to be 99 years old. In her later years, she became hard of hearing and wore a hearing aid. It seemed her greatest challenge was keeping working hearing aid batteries in her hearing aid.

She was supposed to remove the battery when she wasn’t using her hearing aid. The battery would always roll out of the hearing aid and onto the floor or the dresser.

When she was in her room, she did not need the hearing aid as the problem was hearing in crowds. When she got out into a crowd, she could only hear the background noise not the person talking. This noise would drown out what people who were talking to her were saying. Just before she went out, she was always looking for the battery.
