The initial news about the development of the smart grid actually got a lot of negative criticism and was eventually rejected by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It was the birth pains of a very good concept. The first proposed concept actually was to be able to have people switch form post paid plans to pre paid plans. The main reason this was contradicted was the fact people who are using them might not have the proper protection against power shut offs.
