Multi-Talented: Prepress Equipment
Prepress has a long tradition with its position in the printmaking field and many different tasks have been attributed to it. It is an all encompassing part of the printmaking process as it stretches the gap between the creative side and the production side with the wide array of tasks. Type setting, copy editing, markup, proofreading, page layout, screening, re-touching, page assembly, imposition, trapping, separation, and also plate making have all been part of the work load in the prepress process. On top of this, some companies combine the position of graphic designer and prepress production, called a desktop publisher, and they essentially do prepress functions, operate all prepress equipment, along with the graphic design.
