Ebay’s recent decision to charge sellers so many more fees just for listing an item and closing the sale – basically, on every facet of the deal they could think of, threatens to take it in a completely different direction than what it started out as.  Ebay was once a place where you could find an enormous range of items at great prices. Now, it seems to offer more generic, poor quality products, many of which are rip-offs of the real thing. It doesn’t have that online garage sale vibe or type of products. As a buyer, why would you shop there?

Now, with sellers closing their ebay stores to build a website to sell products from directly, effectively cutting out the ebay middle-man, there is going to be even less choice. Let’s face it – you couldn’t sell crap products from a website and stay in business. You need the large pool of buyers that ebay has to do that and still turn a profit. You’re certainly not going to get repeat customers that way.
