Many beginner guitarists out there know nothing about the guitar. They truly have no idea what makes up the fine instrument that they are learning to love. This is not a good thing. Using something that isn’t even very complicated without understanding it is a recipe for failure. This is why I encourage all guitar players, new and old, to learn the parts of a guitar. It won’t necessarily have a large effect on your playing ability, but it will help to you learn to respect the guitar in a new way. You will have a greater understanding of what you are doing and you won’t look like a fool when something asks you to explain how the guitar works.
