Illinois attracts Iowa tourism dollars
In an effort to get the eastern Iowa tourism dollar to cross the Mississippi and be spent in Illinois there have been several attractions built on the eastern side of the Mississippi. Some of the camping areas have had a complete makeover with many amenities added such a electricity being run to all the sites and running water in the shower houses. There is also an increase in advertising just on the other side of the river as well as billboards placed where tourists can view them as they finish crossing the bridges. The effort is expected to pay for itself within five years.
