Before I married, I always rented my place of residence rather than buying. And all maintenance and groundskeeping was taken care of by the management, and the insurance and taxes were their problem. And our plan is to move into a retirement community when we reached age 70. So any money left over after paying rent, goes to savings for that eventuality. Renting has its own set of (minor) problems, but for us, it is clearly the best way to go.
